U47 Shootout Drums (1)

By Martyn
Test taken 1 time

All microphones were used on the same take, in the same room as close to each other as possible. All capsules were pointing at the same reference point on the sound source in an appropriate distance to mitigate slight variations by exact capsule position. Hence the proximity effect cannot be taken into account in evaluating the mics.

As all recordings are a sum of compromises, so is this one. The closeness of the microphone bodies to eachother will have an effect through absorption and reflection, though how much and how is impossible to say. In this test scenario I favoured relative position over possible sound alteration. This allowed for comparison of identical takes.

Preamps were either RME Fireface UFXs or Behringer X32*,  always with identical preamp choice, setting and (moderate) gain on each mic. All audio samples are normalised to -24 LU (LUFS-I) with -0,3dB peak limiting.
